All this talk of implementing and embedding risk management; don't successful companies already apply risk management principles and practice?

I would expect successfully run companies to already implement many aspects of risk management. Indeed, it is difficult to succeed without identifying, responding to and controlling risks. However the key is for companies to ensure all that is possible is done to enhance and improve their risk management capabilities.
